OSU Expands COVID-19 Prevalence Study to Newport
The TRACE-COVID-19 project will collaborate with the Hatfield Marine Science Center to test members of the Newport community on June 20-21. The addition of Newport to the study follows positive tests of more than 120 workers at Pacific Seafood.
Zero COVID-Positive Cases Found In OSU Study
Last month, a group of field teams working with OSU's TRACE-COVID-19 project fanned out across Bend to test households for COVID-19. They tested 615 people in Bend, and no one tested positive. This adds up to an estimated 100 cases within Bend’s population of 100,421.
OSU’s COVID-19 tracing project expands to Newport, site of recent outbreak
TRACE-COVID-19, the groundbreaking OSU project to determine community prevalence of the novel coronavirus, is expanding to include two days of sampling in Newport on June 20-21. University researchers will collaborate with Lincoln County Health & Human Services.
Bend has a low prevalence of COVID, researchers conclude
Bend has a low prevalence of COVID-19, according to OSU researchers who randomly tested about 600 residents in late May. Based upon the sampling,1 person for every 1,000 has the virus.
Results showing prevalence of COVID-19 in Bend coming next week
In a week, researchers will know the prevalence of COVID-19 in Bend, after teams scoured 30 neighborhoods seeking a random sample of people to test for the virus.

Scientists to test random sampling of residents for COVID-19 following worst week of positive test results
Teams of researchers will be combing 30 Bend neighborhoods next weekend asking residents to be tested and nasal swabbed for COVID-19.
OSU to test wastewater systems for COVID-19
Oregon State University is about to start a sewer study of Washington County. The project, funded with a grant from the National Science Foundation, will run for a year. The new OSU study will follow the sewer system to at least 15 locations, near schools, retirement communities, maybe even hospitals, to get a closer look at COVID-19 trends.
No positives from Corvallis coronavirus testing project’s second weekend, last of testing postponed
The TRACE-COVID-19 project began weeks before the state entered its first stage of reopening on Friday, and in light of new developments, the final weekend of the door-to-door testing been postponed. Project leaders Ben Dalziel and colleague Jeff Bethel explain that it could be better to hold off until the state’s reopening is well underway.

Oregon State project will help determine prevalence of coronavirus in communities
OSU's TRACE-COVID-19 project is among the first measure the number of people actually infected with the virus in a community. Epidemiologist Jeff Bethel predicts the project may help public health leaders make more accurate decisions about what steps to take next.
